Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson born to British lawyers Jacqueline Luesby & Chris Watson in Paris, France. In her early years, she went to at the Dragon School in Oxfordshire. From the age of six Emma was aware she would like to be an actress. For many years she studied at the Oxford branch of Stagecoach Theatre Arts a part-time theatre school in which she was taught the art of acting and dancing. At the age of 10 years old, Emma took part in a variety of Stagecoach plays and productions. The casting process began in 1999 in the production of Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2001) the film adaptation of British author J.K. Rowling's bestselling novel. Emma was discovered by agents through her Oxford teacher. David Heyman informed Emma, Daniel Radcliffe, and Rupert Grint after 8 auditions. They were chosen to play the 3 leads Hermione Gringer Harry Potter Ron Weasley. Emma's first cinematic appearance was with Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone in the year 2001. The highest-grossing movie of 2001 The film broke records for its opening day sales as well as its opening weekend earnings. Critics praised the film and its performances by the three young stars. The Daily Telegraph, a widely read British publication, has praised Emma for her outstanding performance. Emma's performance received nominations and was awarded five awards in the film.
