John Denver was a superstar singer who touched millions with his pop-folk songs and many of them located in Colorado. Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. was born in Roswell, New Mexico. He fell in love with Colorado and settled down in Aspen. Denver's iconic anthems for Colorado are a source of inspiration for many to relocate to Colorado. G. Brown of the Colorado Music Hall of Fame says the fact that John Denver is unlike any other performer who has the recognizable image of Colorado. In 2011, Denver was named the Hall of Fame's first inductee. He is now the international face of Colorado. Certainly in my travels you encounter someone on the other part of the globe, one from New Zealand and you say "I'm of Colorado and the very first thing that comes that comes out of their mouths is"Oh John Denver! Brown declared. Denver's debut Top 10 hit as a solo artist after a brief period of performing with small folk music bands included Take Me Home Country Roads written by Bill Danoff. Danoff wrote the track to Johnny Cash but Denver recognized the potential of the single the moment he heard it for the first time. After the performance to a throng of fans on the streets of Washington D.C., the performer recorded the track.
