John Denver was a superstar performer who influenced millions of people by his popular-folk hits and many of them inspired by Colorado. He was born Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. in Roswell New Mexico, he was in love with Colorado and eventually settled in Aspen. Denver's state anthems are a source of inspiration for many to visit Colorado. I can't think of another performer that embodies Colorado such as John Denver said G. Brown curator of the Colorado Music Hall of Fame. Denver was the first Hall of Fame to be inducted into the hall. Today he personifies the state for people worldwide. People you meet in different countries, such as New Zealanders and tell them "I come Colorado" and they say "I am from Colorado" then they immediately respond with "Oh John Denver. Brown stated. Denver's debut Top 10 hit as a solo artist following a brief time in folk bands was Take Me Home Country Roads composed by Bill Danoff. Danoff created the track in conjunction with Johnny Cash in mind but after Denver heard an early version immediately, he realized it was destined to be an instant hit. The song was recorded just two weeks following it was performed in Washington D.C. performance.
